Todd Mathis
Infectious melodies with honest/wry lyrics. Sincere and often-witty country-rock tunes about the ways of the world.
- This EP gives you the old country style with catchy melodies, covering a wide spectrum of blues-infused country rock. Not a dud in the bunch, this is a must-listen for country fans. Sterofly www.stereoflymagazine.com
- Protest songs as a genre are sometimes stiff and tiresome as songwriters attempt to shoehorn their opinions into current events and issues, but Mathis sidesteps most of the pitfalls by focusing on individual perspectives, not overarching ideas, making the politics of the pieces personal. Any student of history knows the line about ‘those who don’t study history are doomed to repeat it;’ mark War Songs as Mathis’ artistic contribution to that learning process. Music That Matters

Interruptions of the Mind
Instrumental, ambient rock.
- Interruptions of the Mind is too weird and dark for the dentist, but earthy enough for a relaxed, zoned out session in a chair in the sun…the marriage of nature and technology – something Mathis has gone out of his way to experiment with on Interruptions of the Mind. – Jasper Magazine www.jaspercolumbia.net

American Gun
Initially inspired by the rough and tumble alternative country of artists like Lucero, Steve Earle, and Uncle Tupelo, the band quickly hit upon its own brand of rambunctious, barn-burning rock n’ roll taking cues as much from Social Distortion, The Hold Steady and Oasis as from their twangy roots.
American Gun’s songs have been featured on a number of indie compilations, PBS’s Roadtrip Nation, The Mountain Dew X-Games and ESPN2’s Bass: The Movie. They have shared the stage with such contemporaries as Lucero, Drivin’ N Cryin’, Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell, The Bottle Rockets, Shooter Jennings, Robbie Fulks, and others.
- South Carolina’s American Gun sift Uncle Tupelo, Neil Young and Bruce Springsteen through a filter of southern gothic story-telling and rock ‘n’ roll energy, coming out with a batch of pure, stripped-down twang ‘n’ roll. No Depression
- The critically-praised Columbia, S.C. roots-rock quintet celebrates the release of their latest…and is riding a wave of positive press that’s increasingly positing the band as one of the finest underground Americana groups in the Southeast. Connect Savannah
- American Gun plays a brand of alt-country streaked with rough edges and Brit-rock leanings, giving the group a sense of atmosphere often lacking in its more staid contemporaries. Free Times

Boxing Day/Capital
Brit-tinged rock and roll touring the East Coast and Midwest from 2000-2005 with a 2 year stint on Universal/Republic Records.
- Boxing Day are born and raised on The Stones and MC 5. A perfect album to party with for sure, and I have played the album on a very high volume twice this evening, and my wife wonders if I’ve gone insane sitting here in my “record-room” playing “airdrums” and banging my head to the record. Anyway, a really good melodic modern rocknroll album (with also a softer side like in the lovely “Luckiest Man In The World – which should be a huge radio hit in the US if God was a fair guy). The (Hollerin’) River Talkers
Collective of South Carolina musicians putting their spin on gospel and blues tunes of old.
- The (Hollerin’) River Talkers are a drum booming, floor stomping, guitar wailing blues and gospel act. They have a traditional bent, but a loud edge and a rock’n’roll attitude. Their self-titled debut opens with a pounding version of the gospel standard ‘Wade in the Water’, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard such John Bonham-esque drum approach brought to gospel music. Like the old-time greats that no doubt inspire The ‘Talkers, this group cannot decide between the Lord’s music and the devil’s music and they are equally adept at playing both. They vary the instrumentation across the record too. Glockenspiel and banjo can be heard in unexpected places. TheModernFolk.net
